It's a proper expansion which touches on enough areas of the game to make it fresh again. Io is really interesting to play, and much more different to mars than Ceres was. New factions and campaign content look great so far. Infinite map challenge is a needed upgrade to provide a skirmish mode with increasing difficulty (outside the potted practice games.) At the time of posting the new factions may need some balance tweaks for exploits, which will only become apparent when exposed to the rabble. For a non-competitive player though it's all pretty good already, and the new moon and faction combinations significantly increase the permutations in play.The usual expansion caveats apply - if you don't like Offworld this won't convert you. If you do like Offworld though, this expansion significantly refreshes and expands the experience.. I've played several hours of this new DLC and lets just say its better than 99% of the AAA game dlc packs. Get it now!!. Their official description is very accurate in that it provides a lot of new challenges that you didn't face on Mars or Ceres. The Basalt lakes and new buildings for water and fuel changes how you play compared to the other two planets. However, the BEST part is that only the host requires the DLC for everyone to have in on the fun.. After playing several games with my dad and brother, I must say that this expansion definitely adds an interesting twist to the game. On a planet where you must make your own water as well as unrely on permanent resource mines, this expansion will definitely make you more cautious of creating careless moves. It'll also show you why humans shouldn't even consider settling on Io.And yes, only the host of a multiplayer game needs the expansion in order to play it.. Great addition to the game. Totally worth the money! I'm happy to support indy devs that create a great and unique game.. The two new factions, Elite and Nomad, add some really interesting new mechanisms to OTC. I've spent dozens of hours already on the updated tutorials and addtional campaign elements, this adds quite a bit of fresh challenges to the single player game. On the multiplayer side, the expansion has shaken things up quite a bit and it's a lot of fun watching the meta evolve daily as people try to figure out with to do with the new Io maps and factions. I've purchased a few copies of the DLC for friends, that's how much I love it. Grab it now!
